# Recruitment Automation Tools You Can Build Yourself

Session notes · Finish the Year Strong Summit · Monday 5 October 2026

## The five rules

Keep all five and the build is an afternoon. Break one and it becomes a weekend.

1. **One job** - It does a single thing. Not a suite, not a platform, not "and it could also".
2. **One screen** - No menus, no pages, no navigation. You open it and everything is there.
3. **No login** - No accounts, no passwords, no users to manage. That alone is half the work gone.
4. **No database** - It saves in your browser. Nothing to host, nothing to back up, nothing to breach.
5. **No API key** - Nothing to pay per use, nothing to rotate, no bill that grows while you sleep.

Keep all five and a candidate's CV never leaves your machine. That is your answer when a client
asks you about data protection.

## What it actually costs

| What | Cost | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A paid Claude plan | Required | The free tier will not carry a build this long. It stops halfway and you lose the thread. |
| Building it | An afternoon | You describe it, Claude writes it, you say what is wrong, it fixes it. |
| Hosting it, internal or testing | Nothing | Vercel's Hobby plan covers personal and internal use. |
| Hosting it on your own site | Their paid plan | Check Vercel's pricing page for the current figure. |
| Running it | Nothing, ever | No API key, so no per-use bill. |
| Storing the data | Nothing | It saves in the browser, so there is no database to pay for or protect. |
| Deciding what it should do | The expensive part | This is where the weekend goes. The code was never the hard bit. |

## Your branding, answered once

Answer these five and Claude writes them into `brand.json`. Every app you build after that reads
the same file and never asks you again. A starter `brand.json` is in this folder.

1. Your agency name, exactly as you write it, capitals and all.
2. Your brand colour as a hex code. No idea? Give Claude your website and it reads the colour off the site.
3. Your logo file. Drop it in the folder and tell Claude the filename.
4. Your font. No font yet? Claude picks one and tells you why.
5. Your sign-off, word for word, including the bad grammar. That is what makes it sound like you.

---

## Putting it online in four commands

1. Make a free Vercel account at vercel.com. Sign up with GitHub or an email address. No card.
2. Install their tool. In your terminal: `npm i -g vercel`. Claude will run this for you if you ask it to.
3. Run it from your app folder. Type `vercel`, answer four yes-or-no questions, and it gives you a
live address in about a minute.
4. Push the finished version. Type `vercel --prod`. Change a line, run it again, it updates.

Address asking you for a login? Deployment protection is on by default, so switch it off in the
project settings.

Read this before you point a company domain at it: Vercel's free plan is called Hobby and it is
meant for personal and internal use. A tool sitting on your commercial website for the public
belongs on their paid plan. Check their pricing page for the current figure rather than taking a
number off a slide.

---

## Getting it onto your website, three ways

1. **Just link to it** - Put the address in your LinkedIn featured section, your email signature,
your proposals. Takes two minutes. Do this today.
2. **A button on your site** - A button on your services page that opens it in a new tab. Ten
minutes for your web person, or Claude writes the code and you paste it in. Do this this week.
3. **Run it inside your page** - One line of HTML and the app runs on your own page, with your
header and footer around it. The visitor never leaves your site. This is the lead magnet.

A working free tool beats another PDF download, because they have to come back to use it again.

## The three tools from the session

Free to open, no sign-up, nothing you put in them is uploaded anywhere.

- CV Reformatter - recruitergtm-cv.vercel.app
- Candidate Marketing tool - recruitergtm-mpc.vercel.app
- Content Calendar - recruitergtm-calendar.vercel.app

The full prompt for each one is in this folder as `prompt-1`, `prompt-2` and `prompt-3`.

---

## Your next three steps

1. Open the CV Reformatter at recruitergtm-cv.vercel.app. Press Load a sample, then drop in a real
CV. Decide the one thing you would change.
2. Copy prompt 3 and build yours. Paste it into Claude, answer the five branding questions, let it
build, then change the one thing you decided in step 1.
3. Put it online with the four commands above and post the link. Drop your live address in the
   RecruiterGTM community at skool.com/recruitergtm.
